The performance tells the story of the inner life of the last woman in Picasso’s life — Jacqueline Roque. She was the final partner of Picasso, the seventh and the one he reportedly claimed understood him best.
Through exceptional artistic expressiveness, Ala Menșicov succeeds in conveying the thoughts and emotional world — full of sadness, joy, and fascination that Jacqueline Roque experienced while living alongside the genius until the end of his life. Through Jacqueline’s story, we gain insight into Picasso’s turbulent life, his extraordinary artistic legacy, and his often despotic nature. At the same time, it is a moving account of the profound love this woman shared with him, a love for which she ultimately sacrificed her own life.
For this role, Ala Menșicov was awarded the Grand Prix at the Gala Star Theatre Festival “One Man Show” in Bacău, Romania, in 2006.
