“The Rope” is an adaptation of the play Rope by English author Patrick Hamilton. The same text also inspired the famous film Rope, directed by Alfred Hitchcock. The action unfolds in a luxurious New York apartment, where two young men murder their friend and university colleague, David Kentley. Why? For the thrill of it.
Brandon and Phillip decide to hide the body in a trunk and host a party in the very apartment
where the crime took place. The trunk, disturbingly, becomes the table for the evening’s
gathering. Among the guests are David’s father, his aunt, his fiancée, their fellow student
Kenneth, and, most notably, their philosophy professor, Rupert Cadell. He is the one who... Well,

One of the central themes in this piece is the decadence, selfishness, and lack of responsibility
and empathy shown by the younger generation – as well as the brutal manner in which they
assert their rights, often trampling on those of others. The Rope is a contemporary, modern
performance – with young actors, about young people, and for young people.
